Course Structure and Content

  • How Is The Course Delivered?

    Part-time/ blended learning option: Once you have booked your course you will plan your study with one of our support tutors, ensuring plenty of time and preparation for your practical course days. Dates will be agreed for coursework deadlines and telephone appointments will be made to allow tutors to give you regular feedback on the work that you submit and support you with your learning through one-to-one revision sessions. Because it’s always good to ensure you’re on the right track.

    Once you have completed your home study you will attend the practical days at your choice of Focus Training centre. These fun and challenging days will allow you to practice your teaching skills using the latest equipment, whilst receiving support and guidance from our expert tutors.

    Full-time learning option: You will attend 16 days (Monday-Thursday) over 4 weeks, full-time (9am-5pm). This will provide support for completion of your worksheet units, case studies and theoretical and practical assessments.

     

     

  • What Course Materials Will I Receive?

    You’ll learn a lot throughout your course, thanks to the variety of our course materials. We provide learning materials you won’t find in a dusty old textbook. We take the curriculum and mix it up to provide a variety of learning methods to help you learn more efficiently, whilst enjoying every step of the way.

    Our courses comprise of a mixture of home study, research, written coursework and practical sessions. This ensures we cover all of the necessary material, but in as fresh and engaging a way as possible!

  • How Do I Submit My Course Work?

    You need to submit your home-study units either online through interactive questioning or you could choose to complete it hand written. Whatever works for you.

    If you have any special learning needs please do not hesitate to discuss them with our advisers, we will do as much as is practicable to assist.

     

  • What Does The Personal Trainer Course Cover?

    Throughout these course, you will study a variety of topics that will teach you more about how to be a great personal trainer – such as:

    • Advanced anatomy and physiology
    • Advanced cardiovascular training methods
    • Advanced resistance training methods
    • Movement screening – postural assessment and overhead squat assessment
    • SMART goal setting
    • Progressive exercise programming
    • Teaching exercise outdoors
    • Olympic lifting techniques
    • Plyometric and motor skill development
    • Functional core stability training
    • PNF stretching
    • Nutritional basis of healthy eating
    • Analysis of food labels
    • Eating for energy
    • Analysis of food diaries
    • Passive fitness assessments including blood pressure testing
    • Active fitness assessments including movement screening and endurance assessment

  • How Will I Be Assessed?

    Throughout the course, you will be assessed on a range of areas to ensure you have both the knowledge and tools to create tailored and engaging fitness plans to a variety of clients. Assessment includes:

    • Practical observation to demonstrate your ability to deliver personal training sessions
    • A case study to outline your knowledge of programming personal training sessions and nutritional advice
    • A multiple choice theory exam covering anatomy and physiology
    • A multiple choice exam focussed on the principles of nutrition

  • How Do I Become A Personal Trainer?

    Our Personal Training course covers the essential knowledge and insights you won’t pick up on the gym floor. We delve deep into the workings of the human body, and how to get the very best out of it!

    Throughout your part time personal trainer course, you’ll cover how to provide savvy nutritional advice, how to devise, monitor and review client’s fitness plans, and how to create bespoke exercise sessions for a wide range of clients.

    As personal training clients are becoming more selective about the skillset of those they work with, there’s no better time to kit yourself out with a recognised qualification to kickstart your personal training career.

    The first thing you need is a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification. If you already have one of these then great, you’re ready to jump straight into the Level 3 Personal Trainer course, if not don’t worry, we can add this on at the beginning.

  • What Certificate Will I Receive On Completion Of My Personal Trainer Course?

    On completion of the course you will receive an Active IQ Level 3 Diploma in Fitness Instructing and Personal Training.

  • Tell Me More About My Qualification

    Our certificates are recognised by REPS meaning that once qualified, you’ll have a high quality qualification under your belt. To ensure your studies lead to a successful personal training career, we don’t just send you off into the world with a piece of paper.  Your certificate is earned, by you, fully backed by us and recognised professionally.

    You will receive 20 REPs points on completion of the Level 3 Personal Trainer course. The Register of Exercise Professionals provides a system of regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure that they meet the health and fitness industry’s agreed National Occupational Standards. If you don’t cut it with them, you don’t cut it anywhere.

    Clients are now becoming much more savvy before parting with their trust, and their cash.  Researching on the internet and asking questions regarding experience, qualifications and often references are not uncommon in today’s’ consumer.

  • Are There Any Other Ways To Pay?

    Yep.  We offer four ways to ease the strain on your wallet, whilst still training for the job of your dreams. Take a look at our payment options here.

    If you pay in full before you start your course you will receive a discount on the course price. Alternatively, spread the cost of your course in a way that suits your pocket.

     

     

  • How Long Will It Take Me To Complete The Personal Trainer Course?

    If you have other commitments, our part-time learning option is the perfect choice. Work to your own schedule, dance to your own tune and expect to complete your personal trainer course in a minimum of 16 weeks (22 weeks incl. L2 Gym).

    On average, most learners take 6-9 months. This is a combination of home study and 8 days attendance (11 incl. L2 Gym), which are spread over 2 and 3 day courses.

    Got time? Go full speed with our full-time learning option, which can be completed in as little as 4 weeks (5 weeks incl. L2 Gym). This involves 4 weeks (Mon-Thu) of full-time attendance (5 weeks incl. L2 Gym).
