5 Reasons to Become a Personal Trainer

1. Genuine Job Satisfaction The phrase “do what you love and you’ll love what you do” has never been more relevant than when it comes to a career as a Personal Trainer. You could be helping people to lose weight or even train for a competition, being there every step of the way as their personal trainer. You’ll share their journey and be there for their successes. There is nothing more satisfying than sharing your passion for fitness and exercise with other people.

2. To Become A Personal Trainer brings uncapped earning potential When it comes to your current job, do you ever feel your hard work doesn’t bring you the rewards you deserve? After completing a personal training course with Focus Training, you’ll see all your hard work convert into the income you’ve always dreamed of!

3. Endless Opportunities Most people think that being a personal trainer means you’re tied to working in a gym. This is not the case at all! There are many areas where, once you have completed your personal trainer course, you can work in. All you need is your equipment and endless energy and motivation. You could provide outdoor fitness sessions, start an online PT session or become a corporate fitness coach. You could even start your very own gym. The opportunities with the Level 2 Personal training qualification are endless.

4. Independence When you work for yourself as a Personal Trainer, you are self-employed. The added advantage of this means that you can choose your own hours, clients and how you present and market yourself as a business. The control of your business growth and brand is purely down to you, and control and independence is not something you can get working in a regular job.

5. High demand for well qualified PT's Currently, there is a major problem with the nations’ fitness levels. Obesity and fitness-related illnesses are on the rise. The nations’ public is well aware of the need for a fitness routine. Most people who join a gym have little or no idea about how to get the best out of their sessions, and therefore don’t see the potential benefits. This often leads to them giving up and failing to improve their health. Taking a personal training course will allow you to give these people the professional guidance and advice that they require without the risk of injury.

Choose a training provider that qualifies you to the highest standard with practical attendance to give you the experience you need - otherwise, it's like learning to drive without getting in a car!

FAQ's for Personal Trainer Courses

What qualifications do I need to be a personal trainer?

What level of course do I need?

We deliver three levels of qualification in the health and fitness industry.

Level 2 Fitness Instructor – This is the course needed for entry into employment in the health and fitness industry. The two main Level 2 courses are Gym and Exercise to Music. Other disciplines include Aqua, Step, Circuits, Studio Cycling and Instructing Health Related Exercise to Children. It is the equivalent of GCSE Grades A-C or an NVQ Level 2

Level 3 Advanced Fitness Instructor – The Personal Trainer Diploma is a level 3 qualification, it is at an equivalent level to A levels or an NVQ Level 3.

Level 4 Specialist – The most advanced qualification available. Students must have completed the GP Exercise Referral course to be eligible to enrol.

Are the PT courses industry recognised?

All Focus Training personal trainer courses qualifications give full entry to the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and our series of PURE workshops give Continuing Professional Development points to qualified instructors.

The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) was set up by the industry to regulate exercise and fitness instructors and personal trainers by recognising qualifications allowing entry to the register at different levels. It allows employers to check that any potential employee has the required qualifications for employment in the industry. All personal trainer professionals on the REPs must complete more pt training to maintain their status on the register by gaining continuing professional personal trainer development (CPD) points. This ensures that their knowledge is valid and current.

Can I start a personal training course straight-away and how long will it take?

Most of our personal trainer courses require a period of tutor-supported home study before you attend workshops and/or a practical assessment day at one of our venues. If a pt course is listed on our website at a venue near you then you can be assured that there will still be enough time for you to complete the necessary home study.

If you can’t find the personal trainer course that you are looking for, please call our course advisors and they will be able to suggest alternatives and register your interest for upcoming courses so that you don’t miss out.

The time it takes to complete a Level 3 Personal Trainer course depends on a number of factors, for example, your previous knowledge, experience and the particular course on which you are enrolled. However, all courses can be completed between 4 weeks and 6 months.
