With an average of 32 people applying for every job in the UK, the employment market is a tough one for those just out of school.
Despite holding shiny new degrees, many graduates find themselves joining the career ladder much lower down than they’d dreamt throughout their 3 years of hard study, and disappointed with the career opportunities available to them.
The fitness industry however continues to grow, as sedentary lifestyles are being tackled once and for all and the demand for Personal Trainers continues to increase to help in shaping the nation.
For those fresh out of school and weighing up their future career, the fitness industry holds some serious opportunities, without the need for years of study or costly university fees. Many school leavers with an interest in fitness began their career gaining valuable experience within a gym setting whilst studying part time to become fully qualified Personal Trainers, Gym Instructors or Fitness Coaches.
Compared to a university degree course which can take three or four years (and several thousand pounds!) to complete, students can gain a Level 3 Personal Training certificate in as little as four weeks to get them started on their way to a career in the fitness industry.
Once qualified, Personal Trainers can continue to develop their knowledge and skills, often whilst working flexibly around their own schedule. And with many gyms and leisure centres happy to take on newly qualified fitness professionals, the opportunities for employment become much more attainable than the standard office 9-5! (Which you’d probably get quickly bored of anyway!)
Once you find your feet, you may even consider specialising in a niche area to improve your chances of success when it comes to training specific clients. All courses have been developed to enhance your future career, whether as a Personal Trainer, Exercise to Music Instructor, Gym Instructor, or for your continuing professional development. One thing’s for sure, you won’t be in charge of making the office tea and opening the post every morning! What’s not to love about that?
