Before joining the Focus team, he worked for Manchester City Council, teaching a variety of fitness classes.
A qualified Level 2 Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer, Phil completed his Level 2 Gym Instructor course in 2014, followed by his Personal Trainer qualification with Focus Training.
He told us;
“It was one of the best decisions I have made. Helping other people reach their goals makes your job worth while. It’s a really rewarding role which can lead you down many different paths in the fitness industry.”
Phil believes the qualities of a great Personal Trainer are great communication skills, a strong understanding of client needs, the ability to motivate, reliability and great timekeeping.
When he’s not coaching and developing the next generation of fitness leaders, Phil trains in the gym 4-5 times each week. He also plays for a basketball team, which helps to keep him in great shape.
“I’m a huge team player, so love to be a part of a team.”
We asked Phil…
What’s your top fitness tip?
“If you want abdominals, enjoy a diet low in carbs, high in fresh greens and good fats.”
What 3 things can you not live without?
“Music, exercise and food”
How would your friends describe you?
“They would say I’m like Marmite.”
Well, we like Marmite, and we’re pretty fond of Phil. So we look forward to seeing him in action at a number of courses coming to a venue near you.
