The UK life expectancy for both men and women has increased; 82.9 years for women and 79.1 years for men according to Age UK. It is inevitable that as we get older, we participate is less exercise and sport due to health problems and physical ability. Although this cannot be helped, being a specialist as an older adult fitness coach can change this.
The recent statistics published by Age UK has indicated that only 7% of adults aged 75+ are likely to take part in the minimum required activity to achieve their health benefits, compared to 19% of people aged between 65 and 74. 10% of adults aged 65+ will participate in recreational walking; 6% will go swimming and 5% will take part in bowls.
Focus Training aims to have a variety of personal training course available, one of them being an adult fitness coach course. The course will teach you the physiology of ageing and considerations that must be understood when training older adults. As well as this, you will gain a fuller understanding of the issues of blood pressure, weight management and weakening joints. This will help you put together an effective training plan for your older clients that will help to improve any health related issues and their lifestyle.
We’ve seen many of our students pass this personal training course and become success fitness instructors for the older generation. You can also be part of providing a healthy lifestyle for the older adults and if this is an area that you have great interest in, please get in touch Focus Training today, or click here to download our free online prospectus.
