He did it!

Everyone down at Focus Training is thrilled with Djokovic’s win yesterday against Federer and what a match it was! It was touch and go and there was certainly no clear winner throughout the sets. We were on the edge of our seats. First Federer won a set then Djokovic took it back. It was nerve racking to say the least, but a great match and a well-deserved win. But how does the Wimbledon 2014 champion keep so fit?

As with any sporting professionals, it all bottles down to hard work, passion, and of your course your daily diet and exercise routine. However, Djokovic’s diet is different to what you might think and is gluten-free. He is also what is known as an ectomorph, which allows him to eat what he wants without his body gaining weight. Alright for some! His diet can contain anything from beans, natural nuts to eggs, meat, fish, certain dairy products, fruit, veg, rice and potatoes. But here is an inside to Djokovic’s daily meal plans.

Breakfast

Tea or coffee with grapefruit, a gluten free bagel with cream cheese, eggs and bacon – sounds good to us!

Lunch

Salad with a grilled hamburger on a gluten free bun (or bread), served with French fries, mayonnaise and either an iced tea or coffee – again, not a bad lunch at all!

Snack

String cheese – an old school favourite!

Dinner

Fresh salmon with lemon and butter, served with oil and vinegar dressed salad, brown rice and vegetables.

Now Djokovic’s workout plan focuses around stretching and he also has a personal trainer on hand to assist with his fully body stretches and exercises. As a tennis player, your upper body training is important, as you can already probably guess. You will need the strength and power to outhit your opponent, but it is your core that is vital when you serve.
