HOW TO CHOOSE A PERSONAL TRAINER
How do you find the right Personal Trainer for you? Start by finding professionally qualified PTs in your area, within easy reach of your home or place of work depending on where you want to train. Pop your postcode in the search box above and you’re on your way.
Now you can make a choice based on a number of factors, including cost, experience, specialisms, convenience, how they propose to train you and their potential to inspire and motivate you.
You could pay from £15 to over £150 per one hour session with your personal trainer so setting your budget and deciding on how many sessions per week you want is important. Think through your training goals before you talk to each trainer on your short list. Are you working towards an event or wanting to achieve weight loss? Is your aim to build strength or simply adopt a more healthy lifestyle in general? Defining your targets will help them to outline a proposed training strategy to work with you to achieve your goals.
As always, be mindful of personal safety when meeting anyone new and arrange to meet in a public place. Everyone in our directory has been trained by Focus Training however we also advise that you ask to see evidence of your Personal Trainer’s professional qualifications and specialist insurance arrangements. Make sure that they have bona fide professional qualifications from an Awarding Organisation such as Active IQ or YMCA Awards. You can also check them out on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), a public register that has been developed to protect the public from trainers who do not hold appropriate qualifications. Remember, not all personal training qualifications are of the same quality.
