Personal Trainer Diploma

The Personal Trainer Diploma course is a seamless solution for people wanting to become a qualified Personal Trainer who do not currently hold a fitness qualification.

The Diploma comprises of the Level 2 Fitness Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer qualifications, taking you from enthusiastic amateur to fully qualified fitness pro, ready to work in a gym or health club environment or running your own business as a self-employed personal trainer.

This course will build on your enthusiasm for health and fitness by giving you the theory and practical skills required to safely train, inspire and guide others. Supported all the way by expert tutors you will complete the course through home study and workshop attendance.

Funding is available for this course through the Government’s 19+ Advanced Learner Loan scheme.

 

Course Structure and Content

  • What course materials will I receive when I enrol on the Personal Trainer Diploma course?

    You will receive a hard copy Fitness Instructor manual and, once enrolled, we will give you access to our online learning platform which includes interactive revision tools and quizzes to test your knowledge. You can also complete elements of the home study work from here. Hard copy Personal Trainer manuals are also available to buy.

  • What will I learn during the Personal Trainer Diploma course?

    The Personal Trainer Diploma course is split into two areas:

    Gym Instructor

    You will learn how to plan and deliver your own gym sessions, using up-to-date methods of programming and instructing skills. You will acquire an in-depth knowledge of health and fitness, including first-hand experience of using gym equipment, as well as:

    • How to warm up / cool down
    • Anatomy and physiology
    • Free weight exercising techniques
    • Cardiovascular conditioning
    • Resistance machine exercise techniques
    • Body weight training
    • Flexibility training

  • How is the Personal Trainer Diploma course delivered?

    Once you have booked your course, one of our expert and dedicated tutors, will be in touch to plan your learning and support you through coursework feedback and revision sessions over the phone, ensuring adequate time and preparation for your practical course days. You will attend your choice of one of our training venues for a number of weekend workshops, 11 days attendance in total.

     

  • How do I submit my work for the Personal Trainer Diploma course?

    You need to submit your home-study units either online through interactive questioning or you could choose to complete it hand written if you prefer.

  • How will I be assessed on the Personal Trainer Diploma course?

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I become a Personal Trainer?

    You will need an accredited Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.  Entry to Level 3 requires you to hold Level 2. This course allows you to seamlessly complete both levels and there are no prerequisites for this course. The only official requirement to enrol is that students are over the age of 16.

    When choosing a Personal Trainer course you must ensure that the course allows you to gain certification from an Ofqual approved Awarding Organisation. Our course is awarded by Active IQ, who lead the way in awarding qualifications within the Active Leisure sector so you have peace of mind as you take your first steps into a very exciting and rewarding career.

  • What can I expect to achieve from the Personal Trainer Diploma?

    Upon completing the Personal Trainer Diploma, you will receive:

    • Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym-Based Exercise)
    • Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training
  • Do REPs recognise the Personal Trainer Diploma course?

    Yes! All Focus Training qualifications are recognised by REPs, and this one will award you with 40 REPs points and entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals as a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Exercise Referral specialist.

    REPs is an independent body set up to regulate fitness professionals operating within the industry and ensure that they meet agreed National Occupational Standards.

  • Is funding available for the Personal Trainer Diploma course?

    Yes, the Personal Trainer Diploma qualifies for 19+ Advanced Learner Loans. If you are eligible you will only have to pay a fully refundable small deposit, which you get back when you complete the course.

  • How else can I pay for the Personal Trainer Diploma course?

    We offer interest-free payment and also have a flexible finance options if you want to reduce your monthly outgoings by paying over a longer period. If you prefer to pay up front you’ll receive a pay in full discount.

  • How long will it take me to complete the Personal Trainer Diploma course?

    This is a blended learning course, a mix of tutor supported home study and workshop attendance. From start to finish it is possible to complete this qualification in a minimum of 6 months depending on time that you have available to study and your previous experience. Most learners take between 6-12 months.
