Helping you to get off on the right foot, our exercise to music course will introduce you to the exciting career possibilities of group exercise. Ideal for Gym Instructors looking to teach classes within health and fitness clubs and those who want to become a Les Mills Instructor, this is where it all begins.
As soon as you enrol on the Exercise to Music course, you will gain access to our bespoke eLearning virtual classroom. On here you’ll find your electronic manual, visual-audio revision sessions and instructional videos, everything you need to prepare you for assessment and develop your knowledge and skills. There are even online quizzes to keep you up to speed.
You’ll also be assigned your own personal support tutor who will call you to agree on a plan of learning. This will include setting deadlines for coursework submission and arranging further revision calls to help you with the theoretical elements of the course.
After completing your home study work, and once you are fully prepared for your assessment, you will attend the 3 practical course days. These fun and challenging days will allow you to practice your teaching skills using the latest moves and choreography, whilst receiving support and guidance from our expert and highly experienced tutors.
Approximately one month later, after some practice at home, you will return for a one-day practical assessment, bringing two friends along with who you will instruct as part of your assessment.
The course is designed to show you how to add more fun to an already engaging fitness routine. It will give you the knowledge to teach classes to any style of music class. For example, freestyle group exercise or pre-choreographed programmes like Les Mills
It will cover everything from warm-ups to cardiovascular, body conditioning, cooldowns and more. You’ll also be taught the theory behind how the body works, alongside the practical steps needed to create and conduct a group music exercise class.

To successfully complete this course, the following assessments will be carried out:
Home study (either online or written)
2 x multiple choice theory examinations
Practical assessment – planning, teaching and evaluating a safe and effective exercise to music session (you must bring 2 people with you for the practical assessment day)
