Tell us a little bit about what you were doing before taking our course. Were you employed in the fitness industry already or did you come to us from a completely different background?

Over the past 20 years I have been a personal trainer and fitness manager for a large commercial health club chain.

In October 2018 I decided to further my knowledge by undertaking a sports massage qualification with the hope of setting up my own sports massage business afterwards.

What was it that made you decide to take one of our courses?

As I was working full-time, I needed to find a course that would allow me to study in my own time and fit around work and family commitments.

The focus course did just that; I was able to study at home at my own pace then attend a 3 day training workshop to complete my learning before returning a month later to take my exams.

In addition to the flexible learning I also chose Focus as I had completed my Level 2 fitness qualification with them 20 years ago at the start of my fitness journey and found their course content and tutors to be excellent.

Once the course was completed what have you used your new skills for? How has it impacted your life/employment?

Since completing my Sports Massage qualification, I have set up as a self-employed Sports Massage Therapist and hire a therapy room within a private personal training studio.

What are your future plans? Will you take any further courses? Do you have a business idea?

I intend to continue to grow my business.

If you had a piece of advice for a learner trying to decide whether they should take one of our courses what would it be?

If you are just starting your fitness career or looking to add you your skills/qualifications, then I would encourage you to do so through Focus.

Their course content is relevant and tutors knowledgeable and motivating. I found that the regular telephone support from the course tutors was invaluable in helping me set and stick to my learning timetable and to offer help and advice along the way.
