Sports Massage Course

Student Case Study

Tell us a little bit about what you were doing before taking our course. Were you employed in the fitness industry already or did you come to us from a completely different background?

Before doing the course, I was working in catering, at the time in a kitchen for Wetherspoon and shortly after, changing to a kitchen in an NHS site. I have never been in the fitness industry or even have a gym membership.

What was it that made you decide to take one of our courses?

I decided to take a course to become a Sports Massage Therapist after have a few massages and my therapist said that she knew what my problems were by the way I walked, and it fascinated me. I wanted to have that passion and knowledge in my job. Sports massage would be a huge change for me but I like working with people and the theory side of things is something that interested me.

Once the course was completed what have you used your new skills for? How has it impacted your life/employment?

Since the course has finished, I’ve been building a mobile business and have regular clients with significant improvement of their conditions. This has had a big effect on my confidence and ego.

If you had a piece of advice for a learner trying to decide whether they should take one of our courses what would it be?

My advice? Do it! It’s scary but do it. I have found something that I enjoy doing and I’m getting paid for it.

I am also in the process of quitting smoking, I have a gym membership, I have taken responsibility for my own health, come off antidepressants, my back, hips and knees are not in as much pain as I have better posture and knowledge of my body. I’ve done a bit of a 180!
