Student Case Study

Tell us a little bit about what you were doing before taking our course. Were you employed in the fitness industry already or did you come to us from a completely different background?
Before I decided to take any courses, I was a stay at home mum raising my two boys for 10 years. I put on a lot of weight within this time. After a while I made the decision to get fit and make myself healthier. I managed to do what I set out to do and fell in love with exercise. I found I enjoyed it more than I ever thought I would!

What was it that made you decide to take one of our courses?
I realised that I could be a Personal Trainer and help others, even though I’m in my forties and probably don’t look like I could be one. I took the plunge and enrolled on the full-time course and ended up doing two full-time courses;
1. Level 3 Diploma in Fitness Instructing & Personal Training
2. Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral
and the Personal Trainer Toolkit all between April and July!

When I was looking into which provider I wanted to study with, someone mentioned Focus Training. I researched the company more and it just felt like a good fit for me. Focus provides full or part-time courses and help with payment options too.

Once the course was completed what have you used your new skills for? How has it impacted your life/employment?
Since passing I am now self-employed P.T and I’m building up my client base.

What are your future plans? Will you take any further courses? Do you have a business idea?
My future plans are to continue to expand and open my own studio one day.

If you had a piece of advice for a learner trying to decide whether they should take one of our courses what would it be?
My advice to anyone reading this would be, just go for it! If you’re willing to put in the hard work, you will see the benefits when pass.
