We Chat With Shaun Kavaney – Personal Trainer

We caught up with Shaun Kavaney, a highly successful Personal Trainer for the past 14 years, after becoming qualified with Focus. 37 year-old Shaun joined his local gym at the age of 17 having always had a love of sports and a keen interest in fitness. Having received mediocre support from the club’s fitness professionals, Shaun began to devise his own fitness programmes and quickly found his passion to become a Personal Trainer. After a brief online search, he found Focus Training and his journey to becoming a well-renowned fitness professional began. Shaun studied his Level II Gym Instructor course whilst training at a local health centre. In a chance conversation with the club’s manager, Shaun bagged himself some work experience before being offered a full time role as an in-house trainer. As his client-base began to grow, he found that more and more gym-goers were keen to seek his advice in a number of areas, and so wanted to increase his knowledge in order to offer a better service. “People were coming to me and asking for programmes, nutrition plans and one-on-one training sessions. It was a huge opportunity to really make a difference.” Shaun then went on complete his Level III fitness qualifications, and told us he didn’t even bother to shop around – he came straight to Focus Training. “While I love fitness, covering all of the in-depth learning surrounding the body, nutrition and the science behind it all, it’s not easy. The tutors at Focus made the courses simple to follow, interesting and fun. They were consistently on hand to provide support, plus there was plenty of laughter and good banter along the way.” Now a fully qualified Level III Personal Trainer, Shaun is reaping the rewards through offering a range of training services to a varied client base. Not only designing bespoke fitness and nutrition plans for an increasing number of loyal clients, he works with GP referred patients, holds weekly bootcamp sessions and provides pre-season fitness training and nutrition plans to local football teams. Not a guy to sit back and rest on his success, Shaun now has bigger plans for his already thriving career. “Working with Focus on my Level III qualifications inspired me to want to develop my knowledge even further.” Shaun is currently studying his BSc in Sport Fitness coaching with the dream of becoming a Course Tutor himself. Based on his evidently huge passion for fitness and ability to talk the legs off a chair, we think he’d make a fantastic Course Tutor. We’ll be keeping an eye on this one!
