Looking for something to tone up your clients glutes for the summer? Have the questions started yet – Im going on holiday in 4 weeks time I need to get beach fit?
Try all you want, get them squatting, lunging, deadlifting – nothing will work in that short time period.
Why not kill 2 birds with one stone and take them outside for some hill sprints?
Find a short incline (it doesn’t need to be any longer than 5 metres), and get them to sprint up it as quickly as possible, encouraging a long stride to really get good hip flexion and extension.
Ask them to walk back down slowly (eccentric contractions on the quads will really make their legs sore the next day) and repeat for 8-10 repetitions.
Not only will it do wonders for calorific expenditure (it is extremely hard), but the steeper the hill the more stress is placed on the glutes. It also gets them outside for a bit of fresh air and a change of scenery.
Try it first yourself as that will allow you to appreciate how your clients will feel the next day!
